Websites don't break loudly. They rot quietly.
A certificate expires. A form stops sending. The domain renewal email lands in a folder nobody reads. The price list still says last summer. None of it makes a noise — you just slowly stop getting calls. The care plan is me watching for all of it, for $29 a month.
What $29 a month actually buys
Four jobs, every month, whether you notice them or not.
1. Watch
Uptime — if your site goes down, I know before your customers do. SSL — so the padlock stays and browsers never show "Not Secure" next to your name. Domain expiry — the renewal that, if missed, lets a stranger buy your address. Forms — a test enquiry every month, because a broken form fails silently.
2. Back up
A copy of the whole site, off-site, every month — plus one before any change I make. If something goes wrong, an edit disappears or the site gets damaged, I put the good copy back. Without a backup, a mistake is a rebuild.
3. Update & protect
Security patches, library and platform updates, spam-filter tuning on your forms, and a check for broken links and missing images. Most hacked sites get in through something that was outdated and nobody owned.
4. Improve & report
Two content changes a month — new photos, prices, hours, a paragraph, a new service. Then a one-page report in English: how many people came, what they looked at, where they came from, what I'd fix next.
What the $29 does not include
- New pages, new features, redesigns, custom code. Those get quoted — care plan customers get 10% off, and I'll always tell you the price before I start.
- Your domain renewal (about $10–15 a year). It stays registered in your name, at cost, with no markup from me. I monitor the expiry date; the bill is yours.
- Hosting fees, if your site isn't on a free tier. I'll tell you what yours actually costs before you sign up, so there are no surprises.
- Advertising, social media or content writing at scale. I'll tell you honestly if that's what your business needs instead.
What monitoring looks like
This runs a real check on this website right now, from your browser — the same idea as the monthly check I run for care plan customers, just smaller.
Site health check
Live · runs in your browserIt asks each page for a response, times it, and tells you whether it came back healthy. Press the button — nothing is sent anywhere, and no account is needed.
On the care plan this runs monthly (and after every change), with SSL expiry, domain expiry and a test form submission added — and I message you when something fails, not when you ask.
What it costs when nobody's watching
Real numbers, from jobs I've been called in to fix.
I'd much rather take $29 a month and keep your site boring and healthy than charge you $600 in a panic two years later. That's the whole pitch.
Who this is for
You'd rather not think about it
You run a business, not a server. Handing me $29 a month to make sure the site is up, safe and current is a good trade.
Your details change
Prices, hours, photos, staff, services. Two changes a month means the site never lies about your business.
Somebody else built it
Inherited a site from a designer who vanished, or a nephew who moved on? Send me the address. I'll tell you whether it can be safely looked after.
You depend on the phone ringing
If your website is how customers find you, downtime isn't an inconvenience — it's lost money. Monitoring is the cheap insurance.
Questions
Do I have to take the care plan?
No. It's optional, and your website is yours either way. Plenty of people pay once, look after it themselves, and text me when they need something. That's completely fine.
Is there a contract?
No. Month to month, cancel whenever you like — a text is enough. Pay yearly and you get two months free; if you cancel mid-year I'll refund the unused whole months.
What counts as a "content change"?
Anything that doesn't need new code: swapping photos, updating prices or hours, changing a phone number, adding a paragraph or a new service to an existing page, fixing a typo you spotted. Two a month, and unused ones don't roll over into a big project.
What if my site gets hacked?
Care plan customers go to the front of the queue, at 10% off, and I restore from the last clean backup where I can. That's exactly why the plan exists — prevention is a fraction of the price of cleanup.
Will you look after a site you didn't build?
Usually, yes. I look at it first and tell you honestly what state it's in. Sometimes the right answer is "this needs rebuilding before it's worth maintaining", and I'll say that even though it's a bigger job.
What do I get in the monthly report?
One page, no jargon: visitors and where they came from, what they looked at, whether the site stayed up, what I updated, what I backed up, and one honest suggestion for next month. If nothing happened, the report says so in two lines.
Why should I pay monthly when the site is finished?
Because a website isn't finished. Certificates expire, platforms change, browsers update, forms break quietly, and your own business details change. Somebody has to own that — the question is whether it's you remembering, or me being paid to.
Put your site on care
